DESCRIPTION

TB-500, also known as Thymosin Beta-4, is a synthetic peptide that mimics the naturally occurring peptide found in nearly all human and animal cells. It is widely recognized for its regenerative and healing properties, promoting tissue repair, cell migration, and wound healing. TB-500 is commonly used to accelerate the recovery of muscles, ligaments, tendons, and skin tissues following injuries or surgery.

The product is supplied as a sterile, lyophilized powder for reconstitution prior to administration.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Mechanism of Action: TB-500 promotes wound healing and tissue regeneration by increasing the migration of cells to areas of tissue damage. It also helps in reducing inflammation, preventing the formation of adhesions in muscles, tendons, and ligaments, and improving flexibility and recovery post-injury. TB-500 achieves this by binding to actin in cells, promoting cytoskeletal changes essential for wound healing and cell repair.

Pharmacokinetics:

• Absorption: Rapidly absorbed following subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.
• Distribution: Distributed to injured tissues, enhancing tissue regeneration.
• Metabolism: TB-500 is metabolized in the liver.

INDICATIONS

TB-500 is indicated for:

• Tissue and Wound Repair: For accelerating the healing of injuries involving muscles, tendons, ligaments, and skin.
• Post-Surgical Recovery: Supporting recovery and reducing healing time after surgical interventions.
• Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Reducing inflammation in tissues and joints after injury or strain.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Dosage:

• Standard Dosing: 2.0 mg to 2.5 mg injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly twice per week for 4 to 6 weeks. The dose can be adjusted based on the severity of the injury or desired outcomes.
• Maintenance Dose: After the initial period, maintenance doses of 2.0 mg once per week are recommended for continued tissue repair and injury prevention.

Administration:

1. Reconstitute the lyophilized powder with bacteriostatic water.
2. Inject subcutaneously or intramuscularly near the site of injury or inflammation.
3. Rotate injection sites to avoid localized irritation.

Reconstitution:

• Reconstitute each 10 mg vial with an appropriate amount of bacteriostatic water (typically 2 ml to 5 ml).
• Store the reconstituted solution in the refrigerator and use within 7 days.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

• Hypersensitivity: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Thymosin Beta-4 or any of its ingredients.

• Active Cancer or Tumor Growth: Avoid use in individuals with known or suspected malignancies.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

1. Tumor Growth Risk: TB-500 should be avoided in individuals with active cancers, as growth and repair peptides may have the potential to promote tumor cell proliferation.

2. Infection Risk: In the case of open wounds, ensure that the injection site is properly sterilized to reduce the risk of infection.

3. Fluid Retention: TB-500 may cause mild fluid retention in some patients, which could exacerbate cardiovascular conditions.

4. Cardiovascular Caution: Use TB-500 with caution in patients with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions, as peptide therapy can impact fluid balance.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

Common side effects:

• Localized reactions at the injection site (redness, swelling, or irritation)
• Mild dizziness or lightheadedness
• Fatigue following administration

Serious adverse effects:

• Hypotension: A temporary drop in blood pressure has been observed in some cases.
• Allergic Reactions: Monitor for symptoms such as rash, hives, or swelling at the injection site.

INTERACTIONS

• Steroids and Anti-inflammatory Drugs: Caution should be exercised when combining TB-500 with steroids or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) due to potential interactions that may affect inflammation and recovery processes.

• Growth Factors or Other Peptides: When used in conjunction with other peptides or growth factors, monitor for enhanced anabolic effects or unexpected reactions.

USE IN SPECIFIC POPULATIONS

Pregnancy and Lactation: TB-500 has not been studied in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Therefore, its use is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.

Pediatric Use: TB-500 is not recommended for use in children unless supervised by a medical professional, given the potential effects on natural growth processes.

Geriatric Use: Older adults may benefit from the tissue regeneration and healing properties of TB-500, but they should use the peptide cautiously, especially if they have cardiovascular or metabolic conditions.

OVERDOSAGE

Overdosing on TB-500 may result in increased fluid retention or low blood pressure. In the event of an overdose, discontinue use and provide symptomatic treatment. Seek medical attention if severe symptoms occur.

STORAGE

Store the lyophilized powder at controlled room temperature (20°C to 25°C / 68°F to 77°F).

Once reconstituted, store the solution in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F) and use within 7 days.
